You are probably already familiar with the St. Anthony Prayer which begins with “O holy Saint Anthony, gentlest of saints, your love for God and charity toward all God’s creatures made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers.”
Who was St. Anthony ?
St. Anthony of Padua (1195 – 1231) is a Doctor of the Church and patron of the poor. He was a member of the Franciscan religious order, established by none other than St. Francis of Assisi. He was then known as a great theological instructor and preacher.
Saint Anthony was also known as the “hammer of heretics” due to his oration skills, capable of converting even the most staunch heretics.
He was so remarkable that he was canonised by Pope Gregory IX in 1232, just a year after his death. The canonisation process can take decades or even centuries, but his miracles were so significant that there was no question about his sainthood. Pope Gregory named him “The Ark of the Covenant” due to his vast knowledge of the Scripture.
There are many prayers to St. Anthony that mention specific requests. He is known as a saint who helps with lost objects, including important documents, daily items, and even faith itself. In the midst of life’s challenges, faithful prayers stand as our powerful link to divine assistance.

Prayer to St. Anthony for Finding Lost Objects
Saint Anthony, perfect imitator of Jesus, who received from God the special power of restoring lost things, grant that I may find (mention your petition) which has been lost. At least restore to me peace and tranquility of mind, the loss of which has afflicted me even more than my material loss.
To this favor I ask another of you: that I may always remain in possession of the true good that is God. Let me rather lose all things than lose God, my supreme good. Let me never suffer the loss of my greatest treasure, eternal life with God. Amen.

Since you were so gracious to poor sinners, do not regard the lack of merit on the part of him who calls upon you, but consider the glory of God, which will by exalted once more through you, by the salvation of my soul and the granting of the petition that I now earnestly present to you.
As a pledge of my gratitude, I beg you to accept my promise to live henceforth more faithfully according to the teaching of the Gospel and to be devoted to the service of the poor whom you ever loved and still love so much.
